Abstract:
The present study aims to evaluate the microscopic and powder characteristics of the leaf of Lagerstroemia speciosa (Family: Lythraceae) to establish diagnostic features useful for its pharmacognostical identification and quality standardization. The transverse section (T.S.) of the leaf showed the presence of upper and lower epidermis, spongy parenchyma, trichomes, vascular bundle. Powdered characteristics included the fragments of fibres, covering trichome and parenchyma cells.
