Abstract:
The primary purpose is to synthesize existing theoretical models and empirical evidence to develop a nuanced understanding of Social and Emotional Learning and identify future research directions. This paper explores the five core components of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL): self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. These components are essential for fostering students' emotional intelligence, social competence, and overall well-being. The review synthesizes existing research to highlight the significance of integrating these skills into educational settings, demonstrating their positive impact on academic achievement, classroom climate, and student resilience. Emphasizing the interconnected nature of these components, the paper advocates for comprehensive SEL programs that address all five areas to promote holistic student development. Future directions include refining implementation strategies and ensuring equitable access across diverse educational contexts to maximize the long-term benefits of SEL for all learners.
